Planting with Save the Otago Peninsula (STOP)

A dozen people from A Rocha Dunedin joined STOP (Save The Otago Peninsula) in one of our regular plantings on Sunday afternoon July 21st. Our number included six newcomers, and an infant. We’re starting them young here, and are always encouraged when newcomers also want to join in!

Following afternoon tea on the hillside above Otago Harbour, our worship reflection was based on psalm 29, “The voice of the Lord in the storm,” and the storm arrived very soon after, hastening packing gear, grabbing rain jackets, and being driven off the hill. Everybody enjoyed the appropriateness, and a fun time was had by all!

He has degrees in Geography and Divinity and did his doctorate on the nature of human dominion over creation. Selwyn has had years of experience getting the feel of how churches work, and of nurturing faith through engagement with God’s creation. He enjoys teaching and preaching the intimate connection of Christ and creation, especially when that also involves getting dirty hands with others, planting, turning things over, and breathing fresh air. His most unusual experience in this field was working with a conservation organisation in Tibetan China.
