The Eco Church NZ Project was established by A Rocha Aotearoa New Zealand as an ecumenical initiative to support church communities across Aotearoa NZ to actively care for God’s earth as an integral part of their mission. 

Eco Church NZ works alongside eco church advocates / kaihāpai, church leaders, environmental leaders, rangatahi and tamariki, denominational bodies, and other organisations – anyone with the common goal to see church communities across Aotearoa NZ take an active role in caring for God’s creation. 

Being a part of the Eco Church NZ whānau means that you are not journeying on your own. You are part of a bigger mission spanning various churches and denominations across Aotearoa NZ. 

We support each other through knowledge and stories which inspires others to take action. 

Collectively our actions result in a measurable reduction in waste, carbon, pollution and energy use, and lead to more sustainable ways of living that restores and enhances our natural environment while connecting us to the Creator.

Eco Church NZ can support and grow the capacity and capability of the church. Through strong collaborations we have been able to empower churches in Aotearoa to respond to the biblical imperative to care for God’s creation as part of their mission.
